Business’ ban together to bring free Thanksgiving meals to Evansville families

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Evansville’s personal ‘Sauced’ Italian restaurant is internet hosting a free Thanksgiving buffet.

Walton’s Smokehouse and Southern Kitchen is among the 9 sponsoring companies donating meals.

Smokehouse Manager, Cassandra Davis, says companies within the space assist each other each time they’ll.

“I’ve learned that the arts district is a very close knit area and any of the restaurants that are able to help out we jump right on the opportunity no matter what it is,” stated Davis. “So, here’s not many areas in Evansville that would do that for the community and I think its awesome”

Walton’s Smokehouse will donate cherry, apple, and peach cobblers to the Thanksgiving occasion.

Smokehouse administration says they selected to donate cobbler for the occasion as a result of it may serve up to 70 folks per pan, and it may be made shortly.

Smokehouse Kitchen Manager, Jeremy Moench, says inflation is enjoying a big position in what their restaurant is ready to donate to the occasion due to provide chain points.

“Certain shortages too and I don’t even think it’s with Thanksgiving,” stated Moench. “I knew that we were trying to get blackberry for blackberry cobbler you just can’t get it, it’s just not available.”

Moench says inflation is making issues troublesome for the restaurant to sustain with buyer demand.

He says the price of turkey has gone up to nearly $5 a pound, however the value isn’t the one downside the restaurant is going through.

“I might have a week where I order two cases of turkey and you might be able to get it that week you might not,” stated Moench.

Walton’s Smokehouse administration says inflation won’t cease them from giving again to group.

The Thanksgiving occasion can be held within the ‘Sauced’ ballroom on1113 Parrett Street in Evansville.

The occasion is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on November 24.
